Biography
Jinsong Shi holds a Master of Engineering degree from Changzhou University, where his research focused on polymer material design and photopolymerization. Before entering full-time patent practice, he accumulated nearly ten years of industrial R&D experience in coatings formulation and application, optical film development, and plastic processing.
His industrial background has given him a practical understanding of material selection, formulation design, preparation processes, product performance, and industrial implementation. This enables him to quickly understand technical disclosures, identify commercially meaningful inventive concepts, and translate research and development results into structured and protectable patent solutions.
Since transitioning to full-time patent practice in August 2023, Jinsong Shi has handled hundreds of patent applications. His practice covers patent drafting, prosecution, Office Action responses, reexamination proceedings, patent searches, prior art analysis, and patent portfolio planning.
When drafting patent applications, he pays particular attention to the logical relationships among raw materials, compositional ranges, process conditions, product structures, performance indicators, and technical effects. He develops claim strategies based on both the technical contribution of the invention and the client's intended scope of protection.
During patent prosecution, he analyzes examination opinions and cited prior art, identifies the key issues affecting patentability, and prepares targeted response and amendment strategies. His practical R&D experience also enables him to communicate effectively with inventors and technical teams, helping bridge the gap between technology development and intellectual property protection.
